Tip: it's a 118.7 MB download — use Wi-Fi if you can. If it stops halfway, tap download again; it resumes instead of starting over.

You're on an iPhone or iPad

Android files can't be installed on iOS — but SAGMA is already live on the App Store for you.

Send this page to your Android phone

The app installs on the phone, not on this computer. Scan the code with your phone's camera — or type the short link below into your phone's browser.

Download the file here anyway

Training Officers: print this page and hand it out at the mill — the steps, the short link and the QR code all print.

Three steps, about two minutes

The rail ticks itself off as you go. Step 2 is the one people get stuck on — it's normal, and it's safe.

  1. Download the file

Tap the green Download button above. Your phone saves sagma-android-2.0.0-69b7650f.apk to Downloads. Chrome may ask “Keep” or “Download anyway” — that's just because the file didn't come from the Play Store. Tap Keep / Download anyway.

Watch the notification shade for the progress bar. Wait for 100% before you tap it — a part-downloaded file gives a “problem parsing the package” error.
  2. Open it and allow the install

Pull down the notification shade and tap the finished download (or open Files → Downloads and tap it). Android will ask for permission the first time:

Tap Settings in the pop-up → turn on Allow from this source → press Back → tap Install.

If you see “Unsafe app blocked” or a Play Protect warning: tap More details → Install anyway. Google shows this for every app that doesn't come from the Play Store — it is not a virus warning. Verify the fingerprint below if you want proof you have our exact file.
  3. Open SAGMA and sign in

Tap Open, then sign in with the same email and password you use on this portal. Turn on fingerprint sign-in when it offers — after that it's one tap. Forgot your password? Use Forgot password? on the app's own sign-in screen.

You can delete the downloaded .apk file afterwards — the app is installed and will update itself over the air from then on. You never have to repeat this.

Something went wrong?

Every message Android might throw at you, and the fix. Tap one open.

⚠ “Unsafe app blocked” / “Play Protect doesn't recognise this developer”

Expected. Google Play Protect says this about any app installed outside the Play Store, including ours. It is a provenance notice, not a virus detection.

Tap More details → Install anyway. If you want to be certain you have the genuine file, compare the SHA-256 fingerprint published further down this page.

⚠ “Install blocked” / “For your security your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps”

The per-app permission hasn't been granted yet.

  1. Tap Settings in that pop-up (it takes you straight to the right screen).
  2. Turn on Allow from this source — on older phones it's called Unknown sources.
  3. Press Back, then tap Install.

Can't find it manually? Settings → Apps → Special access → Install unknown apps → Chrome (or Files) → Allow.

⚠ “App not installed” / “The package appears to be invalid”

Nearly always one of two things:

  1. An older SAGMA build is already on the phone and was signed differently. Uninstall the existing SAGMA app first, then install again. Your work is on our servers, not on the phone — nothing is lost.
  2. The download didn't finish. Delete the file from Downloads and download it again on a stable connection.
⚠ “There was a problem parsing the package” or “Can't open file”

The file is incomplete or corrupted — the download was interrupted. Delete it from Downloads and tap the download button again. It resumes rather than restarting, so a second attempt is usually quick.

Check the file size matches 118.7 MB before you tap it.

⚠ “Not enough storage” / install stops near the end

Installing needs roughly three times the download size free while it unpacks — keep about 400 MB spare. Clear some photos or app caches (Settings → Storage), then install again. You can delete the .apk once the app is installed.

⚠ The download won't start, or Chrome says it's “dangerous”

On the download notification tap the ⋮ / arrow and choose Keep or Download anyway. If your phone is on a mill or office Wi-Fi that blocks downloads, switch to mobile data, or use a different browser (Samsung Internet, Firefox).

Corporate device management can block sideloading entirely. In that case ask your IT department to allow cloud.edusyms.sagmaexam, or use the web portal.

⚠ I installed it but can't sign in

Use the exact email and password from this portal — the app has no separate account. Tap Forgot password? on the app's sign-in screen to reset it, or email [email protected] with your student number.
